What the ads say
Cash-equivalent vouchers and benefits for households with childbirth or childcare.
How it actually works
The First-Meet Voucher is a ₩2M voucher for a first child and ₩3M for a second or later child (loaded onto the Kookmin Haengbok welfare card). The Parental Benefit is cash of ₩1M/mo at age 0 and ₩500K/mo at age 1. Any household with Korean nationality qualifies regardless of income or assets, but you must apply — and applying within 60 days of birth is required for back-payment.
⚠ Traps
- •Not paid automatically — you must apply; apply more than 60 days after birth and you forfeit the back-payment
- •The First-Meet Voucher has restrictions on where and by when it can be spent (excludes entertainment/gambling businesses, etc.)
- •If you use daycare, check how the Parental Benefit is offset against childcare fees
✓ Good for
- · Households that gave birth in 2024 or later, or are expecting
- · All households with a newborn, regardless of income
✗ Not for
- · Households with no child in the eligible age range
