What the ads say
The government helps with summer/winter heating and cooling energy costs.
How it actually works
It's direct support with no affiliation, contract, or spending requirements. On top of Basic Livelihood Security eligibility, you qualify if a household member is elderly, an infant, disabled, pregnant, a single parent, in a multi-child family, etc. The real hurdle isn't a 'trap' but 'applying' — most actual losses come from not knowing about it or not applying.
⚠ Traps
- •Not paid automatically without a separate application (missed applications are the biggest loss)
- •You must meet both Basic Livelihood Security and household-member requirements to qualify
- •There's a set application and usage period (apply and use within the window)
✓ Good for
- · Among Basic Livelihood Security households, those with elderly, infant, disabled, pregnant, single-parent, or multi-child members
- · Vulnerable households burdened by heating and cooling costs
✗ Not for
- · Households outside the basic-recipient or household-member requirements (ineligible even if they apply)
