What the ads say
Credits paid to low-income households with employment or business income.
How it actually works
The Earned Income Tax Credit is a cash refund capped at ₩1.65M (single), ₩2.85M (single-earner), or ₩3.3M (dual-earner). The Child Tax Credit is paid separately per dependent child. You qualify if you meet the income and asset requirements, but missing the regular filing window (May) means filing late with roughly a 10% reduction.
⚠ Traps
- •Exceeding the income/asset limits (household asset total) means no payment or a reduced one
- •Filing after the regular window (usually May) cuts the amount by about 10%
- •You must apply — even if the tax office mails you a notice, you get nothing without filing
✓ Good for
- · Low-income households with employment or business income
- · Low-income households with dependent children (extra Child Tax Credit)
✗ Not for
- · Households exceeding the income/asset requirements
