Housing Benefit (jugeo geupyeo, Customized Benefit)

Must-grab💰 Up to about ₩700,000/month (lease benefit)

Direct rent (lease benefit) support for low-income households. Renting households get up to about ₩370,000–₩700,000/month by region; homeowners get repair costs.

💡 The dependent-supporter requirement was abolished, so they pay based on your income alone — 'even if you have children.' If you're at 48% of the median or below, the state covers a large chunk of your rent.

What the ads say

Basic welfare is too hard to qualify for, and you can't get it if you have parents or children.

How it actually works

You qualify if your recognized income (income + asset conversion) is 48% or less of the standard median income (in 2026, about ₩3.11M/month for four people). With the dependent-supporter requirement abolished, only your own household's income and assets count. Renting households get their actual rent covered within a benchmark-rent cap by region (tiers 1–4) and household size (in 2026, up to about ₩700,000 for tier-1 areas, typically from about ₩370,000/month). Homeowner households get repair costs (up to ₩16.01M) for renovation depending on the home's age.

Traps

  • · Vulnerable renting households such as the elderly and single parents

Not for

  • · Households with income or assets above 48% of the median
  • · Anyone already receiving non-combinable support such as Youth Monthly Rent
